Keynote Speaker - Kathy Canaan, a Fluor Fellow, serves Fluor as Global Director Trade Compliance
"The Critical Role of  Trade Compliance in The Supply Chain Cycle”

Changes in international trade regulations, escalating trade disputes and enforcement actions are creating ever-increasing complexities in global supply chains.  To be effective, supply chain professionals must keep abreast of changes in the regulatory environment and understand not just the direct impact to their own organizations, but also how other stakeholders within the supply chain might be impacted and what indirect results may arise.

During this presentation, Kathy Canaan, Global Director Trade Compliance at Fluor Corporation will discuss some major cases to highlight how authorities are using enforcement activities to influence corporate behavior.  Canaan will also review significant scope and court rulings which may not be recognized, but have significant bearing on energy-related supply chains.

Canaan will also discuss the extra-territorial nature of many international trade regulations and how these relate to economic sanctions and embargoes, export controls—and, some associated blocking statutes implemented by non-U.S. governments.  The presentation will close with a review of major trade disputes and international trade compliance risk mitigation recommendations.

Kathy Canaan, a Fluor Fellow, serves Fluor as Global Director Trade Compliance responsible for planning, directing and managing the company’s international trade compliance program.  In prior roles at Fluor, Canaan had responsibility for global functional leadership of Fluor's logistics personnel as well as project logistics leadership and strategic sourcing roles.  Before joining Fluor in 2001, Canaan was a project logistics manager in Houston, Texas.
